SCULPTURE IN THE LANDSCAPE 2020
3 - 27 September 11- 6pm (closed Mondays and Tuesdays)
Artworks by Fiona and Alec are included in the forthcoming exhibition organised by Friends Of The Garden.
This outdoor exhibition is set in the beautiful garden at West Leaze, Wiltshire.
A great place to cheer your spirit in these difficult and uncertain times!
Pre-book tickets at www.friendsofthegarden.org.uk
In 1969 an exhibition ‘Sculpture in a Landscape’ was organised by sculptor Roger Leigh. Eighteen of his contemporaries took part. We are delighted that work by William Pye, one of those who took part , will again be shown in the same landscape.
This is the seventh and last Friends exhibition. We are pleased that over 60 artists, most of whom have previously exhibited with us, are coming again. They will be joined by a small group of new graduates three of whom have taken part in our 2020 bursary programme.
All work is for sale. Sculptures will be placed throughout the landscape, and pieces for immediate sale will feature in our popup shop and summerhouse gallery.
A popup café, open every day, will be run by a consortium of village charities serving teas, coffees and light lunches.
Free parking is available in an adjacent field. Only assistance dogs are allowed onto the site.
West Leaze is situated on the Marlborough downs on a sloping site with some flat areas but most is grassland with mown paths. Wheelchair access is limited.
We look forward to welcoming you.
New works commemorating benefactors were displayed at the opening of Winchester College Treasury. Alec has carved a beautiful stone bench outside the Warden's Stables building and etched glass panels for the interior now converted into a state-of-the-art museum for the College's collections.
The Treasury is open to visitors: for admission information see www.treasury.winchestercollege.org
Installation of Fiona's stone sculpture head at Avebury Manor.
Fiona was inspired by one of the standing stones in the circle at Avebury. She chose a rough piece of sandstone which echoed the shape of the ancient standing stone and carved the sculpture by hand. Her sculpture is named Awen after a Druid godess meaning Inspiration.
