Installation of a new memorial in Buckinghamshire, within a family mausoleum that we designed several years ago. A robust granite was selected for this massively heavy new ledger stone. We previously carved elephant heads (featured in the family's crest) on Portland stone entrance pillars and reflective quotation texts around the walled area, which have now weathered, naturally enhancing the carving.
Whilst installing a new memorial in an Oxfordshire Churchyard, we were able to take a look at this headstone we carved several years ago. It's a good example of how the natural weathering process on limestone can enhance the carving and look beautiful in natural surroundings. Spot the yaffle in the beech tree.
Alec has carved a beautiful Welsh slate plaque for Kingham Church to commemorate the children and staff of Kingham Hill School buried in the churchyard.
