Revisiting tne Betjeman Millenium Park, Wantage, Oxfordshire with The Betjeman Society and Trustees
Alec visited the memorial park in Wantage, Oxfordshire, along with Trustees, to give advice on the upkeep of his stone sculptures with lettercutting - poetry in the landscape memorial tribute to John Betjeman.
This beautiful park close to John Betjeman's former home in Wantage, is a celebration of the life and work of the poet. Alec's stone sculptures are a delight to discover in the natural woodland surroundings.
Wantage, Oxfordshire celebrates the work of John Betjeman along with other writers and poets, with a litereary festival from 25th October to 2nd November 2014.
Events, readings, performances and activities are scheduled throughout the week within the town.
Please take time to visit the Betjeman Millenium Park. tucked away behind the Church and alongside Mill Race stream lies a wild garden created to celebrate the life and works of Sir John Betjeman.
Alec was commissioned to created six sculptural works around the park to encapsulate Betjeman's poetry. These works are an integral part of the park and it's a joy to seek them out and contemplate the poetry.
