New commemorative plaque commissioned by a North Oxford primary school. Hand carved Portland stone by Fiona and Alec Peever
Spring 2014, Fiona is busy carving for her Oxfordshire Artweeks exhibition and has also spent time as Artist in Residence painting a library mural for a primary school. Alec has been completing carvings for a new poetry installation project in London. His recent talk given to the Oxford Scribes showed examples of commemorative plaques and memorials he has made.
A slate plaque by Alec was unveiled at The Old Indian Institute to commemorate the dedication of the building to the Oxford Martin School, Oxford University, remembering the vision and generosity of Dr James Martin.
The hand carved welsh slate plaque included Dr Martin's words of encouragement 'We can make any kind of world we want'.
